Wheel-throwing students will learn to use the potters wheel to create a variety of shapes. At the end of class, students will recycle their pieces, but you need not walk away empty handed. Each student gets $15 off of a piece from our gallery, which is full of pottery handcrafted by our teachers. All of our pottery experiences are one-time, two-hour sessions guided by local Santa Fe artists and geared toward travelers, newbies, and anyone looking for a fun introduction to pottery.

Experience the excitement of moving glowing red hot pottery into a can of combustibles that burst into flames, slamming the lid on it to create an oxygen reduced atmosphere, taking out your charred pieces and cleaning them off to reveal the exciting and beautiful results of a Raku firing. Bring your own bisqueware (cone 04-10) or purchase bisqueware from our studio for firing. Four-day pottery camp designed for kids ages 5-12. Students will learn basic pottery hand-building techniques including making pinch pots, coil pots, and slab rolling and will also get to take a spin on the pottery wheel. At the end of the camp, students choose their favorite 3 pieces to be fired, and will come back a few weeks later to pick up their works of art. We provide snacks and break for a quick snack break every day.

If you wish to explore making animal inspired sculpture and learning sculptural methods that apply to any idea but have little or no clay experience, this class is for you! Elliot excels in representational subjects while Joan has years of clay experience and a BFA in sculpture (and tends towards the abstract). Extra studio time: $5/hour. If the class has already begun, students can join in late by paying a per class fee or purchasing a 6-class pass.

Six week workshop learning the art of Nerikomi (colored clay)! Students will learn how to choose and mix mason stains into clay, as well as make patterns - including stripes, checks, herringbone, bullseye, flower, jellyroll, and larger block patterns. Students should have a basic understanding of ceramics, and be able to either throw forms on the wheel, or hand-build.

In this six-class Advanced Wheel Workshop, we will dive into the world of cruets. What are cruets? These small pouring vessels, used for olive oil, vinegar and soy sauce, have endless possibilities without being as daunting as a teapot. We will work on bottle forms, spouts, and stopper lids. We will also discuss what makes a set, and work on other functional and handheld tabletop forms such as shakers, spice bowls, and lidded jars.

The first Friday of every month from 5-8 PM Paseo Pottery hosts a Pottery Throw Down to celebrate our local non-profit organizations. Each month we will invite a local non-profit and proceeds from the event are donated to them as our way of saying THANKS for the important work they do in Santa Fe. There will be live pottery demos, libations, music, and a chance for newbies to try their hand at the wheel with the help of our volunteers. Grab a friend, and come play in the mud with us! Cost: $25/person.
